"Extended education" represents a multitude of programs/activities/offerings that supplement regular schooling with education and care opportunities. Research on their effectiveness shows that attending extended education can have a positive impact on students' academic or socio-emotional development, depending on the quality of the program.

In recent years, the quality of extended education has become more and more central. Theoretically and empirically based quality catalogues for practice have been developed as well as instruments and scales for a systematic recording of quality characteristics. Overall, different ways and methodological approaches have been developed and investigated.

From an international perspective, it can be stated that extended education has different emphases and orientations, such as academic, social or recreational. Goals and program content vary according to this orientation and so do the expected effects and quality criteria. This should be taken into account when discussing educational quality.

This conference will focus on extended education and its quality. This includes the presentation of new research on these topics. Theoretical contributions are welcome, that engage with the conference themes. Participants will benefit from cutting-edge research findings in the field presented by international experts and will participate in discourses on the topic from different perspectives.
