A new literary program for younger children in first and second grade is currently being developed as part of the new SICHTBAR project.
The seven-week SICHTBAR program aims to promote social cohesion in lower grades. Award-winning, high-quality picture books are used to discuss prejudice, discrimination, moral courage, and social cohesion. The children take on the perspectives of characters and engage deeply with the stories. In this way, the children learn important linguistic and social skills. They build new vocabulary, learn to justify their opinions, and listen to each other. In addition, the children learn to apply their newly gained insights from the picture books to living together in the school classroom.
The SICHTBAR project is currently being developed and tested in school classes. The program is aimed at 1st and 2nd grade classes (including multi-grade classes).
