Summary

Long-term effects of integrative measures on the transition to employment

The LABIRINT II project is the fourth part of the longitudinal study BELIMA at PHBern. It focuses on young adults in the Canton of Bern who received various integrative school measures (e.g., support from a special education teacher, reduced individual learning objectives, or accommodations) during their compulsory schooling.

The key research question of the LABIRINT II project is: What are the long-term effects of integrative school measures and mental health problems on the completion of upper secondary education, the entry into employment, as well as on social integration processes and well-being?

In spring 2026, the young adults in our sample will be surveyed online. One year later, in-depth interviews will also be conducted with selected participants.

The collected data will provide detailed insights into the situation of young adults with special educational needs during the transition to employment. In dialogue with vocational education professionals, practice-oriented support options will be developed.
