What?
The LABIRINT project (Long-term Educational Pathways of Regular Students with Integrative School Measures in the Canton of Bern) started in August 2021 and is part of a longitudinal study on the allocation and implementation of integrative school measures (see SECABS and ChaRisMa for reference). The project examines the following question: What effects do integrative school measures at primary and lower secondary school level have on the further educational and professional careers as well as on the social-emotional development of affected students* (S*) at upper secondary level?
Why?
The longitudinal study is unique both nationally and internationally and is highly relevant due to the increasing prevalence of integrative measures. To date, there is little scientifically validated knowledge regarding the long-term effects of various integrative measures. A third survey date enables statements to be made about long-term educational trajectories from primary school through to vocational training.
Who is leading the project?
This is a collaborative project between the Institute for Research, Development, and Evaluation (IFE) and the Institute of Educational Science at the University of Bern. Caroline Sahli Lozano is head and applicant of the project funded by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) and the PHBern. She is leading the research group on inclusive education at the IFE, PHBern. Prof Dr Rolf Becker is co-applicant and project partner. He’s professor and director of the Department of Sociology of Education at the Institute of Educational Science at the University of Bern.
Who was surveyed?
Approximately 2,000 young adults who had already participated in the longitudinal study at the primary and/or lower secondary school level were asked to take part in our survey online or by telephone. Based on the resulting data on educational and professional careers, a selection was made of people who were interviewed in more detail about their current situation at upper secondary level.
